5 jolly good reasons to book a holiday cottage for Christmas or New Year
Back to latest posts
Booking a holiday cottage gives you a fantastic opportunity to stay somewhere completely different to your own home. And what better time to escape from it all than at Christmas and New Year?
Here are five great reasons why:
1. Live like a King
Why not live like a king and queen for a week and luxuriate in your own palace with a hot tub? A games room? Disco? Or ballroom? Perhaps you would like a helipad?! We have all of these features – and more.
Or if the past fascinates you, come and stay in one of our grade listed holiday cottages, brimming with history – like the impressive and rather quirky Hadlow Tower in Kent.
Alternatively, you might just fancy something out of the ordinary – a cottage that was something completely different in a former life - like a coastguard lookout tower right on the edge of the sea?!
2. Welcome one and all
If, like most of us, you would have difficulty accommodating an extra 10 people at home over Christmas or New Year, then booking a large holiday cottage can make good sense.
And the great thing about many of our larger holiday cottages is that they come well equipped with spacious, open plan kitchens and living areas as well as luxuries like games rooms; hot tubs and swimming pools – and perhaps, most importantly, lots of space. Perfect for that party.
Better still, you don’t have to do all that laundry at the end of your stay!
3. Cut back on the stress
Despite our collective good intentions, the festive season can bring out stress in the best of us.
So for many, booking a neutral space somewhere for all the family to escape to can really help ease those family tensions and create a fantastic Christmas to remember.
Rather spend time with friends? We have a fantastic range of holiday cottages from romantic escapes for two to large party houses sleeping up to 50!
4. Explore a different part of the United Kingdom
Choosing to get away from it all can open up exciting opportunities to explore somewhere completely new in the UK.
Those popular places that you might otherwise steer clear of in the Summer can still offer a wealth of attractions out of season – there’s nothing like a bracing walk along a deserted beach in Winter to clear the cobwebs, before returning to the warmth of your log fire.
Our map based search can help you find the perfect location – you can search for regions e.g. the North East or areas of interest like the Lake District or Brecon Beacons.
Better still, why not have a go at drawing your own area on a map to find cottages in your chosen location?
5. Psst - ever heard of Twixtmas?
Lastly – if your favourite holiday cottage is already booked out over Christmas and New Year, then check to see if it is free over Twixtmas.
It’s the period between Christmas and New Year (27-30 December) and it can be an ideal time to grab a short break bargain and escape the excesses of the festive season!
