A romantic folly for two? Or a weather-boarded cottage overlooking the sea? Check out 3 fabulous options still available at Holiday Cottage Compare.
The Folly, Belford, Northumberland
The Folly at Belford in Northumberland offers the perfect romantic escape for two.
This unique and quirky three storey retreat is part of the Middleton Hall Estate and surrounded by wonderful Italian style gardens.
Featuring a modern interior, the master bedroom opens out onto a balcony with great views of the gardens. A roll top bath sits on the top floor – along with the inner mechanics of the building’s clock face, which can be seen displayed in glass casing!
The coast, Holy Island and Alnwick Castle are all close by.
Sleeping two in one bedroom, The Folly costs £790 for 7 nights from 21st December 2015.
The Old Chapel, Edinburgh
The Old Chapel in Edinburgh, Scotland is a luxury grade A listed house, located within the World Heritage Site on George Square.
Spread over 3 floors, it has a fascinating history, having been a fashionable drawing room, a house, a church and latterly the Orthodox chaplaincy!
Quirky features include a double height drawing room with helical staircase plus a garden room with vaulted ceiling and wood burning stove.
It is within walking distance of the Royal Mile, Princes Street and tourist attractions such as the National Museum, Greyfriars Bobby and National Gallery.
Sleeping eight in three bedrooms, The Old Chapel costs £2990 for 7 nights from 21st December 2015.
Seaview, Dungeness, Kent
Seaview is located right on the beach at Dungeness in Kent, with – you’ve guessed it! - incredible sea views.
Reminiscent of a 1930's chic, white, weather-boarded cottage, this is the ideal location for bracing winter walks along the beach, in search of the catch of the day.
Tastefully decorated, its many windows make the most of the unique light and the incredible views that Dungeness has become so famous for. Add in a warming log burning stove and you have the perfect family escape for Christmas.
A particular feature of this self-catering holiday cottage in Kent is the second bedroom located in the converted net loft, which runs the entire length of the property and offers two lucky children or playful adults the loveliest of sleeping quarters. In days gone by, after a long day trawling, the fisherman would drag his nets up here for safe keeping.
Sleeping four in two bedrooms, Seaview costs £820 for 7 nights from 21st December 2015.
