6 of the best short break holiday cottages with hot tubs
Back to latest postsWhy are short break holidays increasing in popularity?
Short breaks are the new thing apparently. It seems that fewer and fewer of us are heading overseas for a two week package holiday in the sun.
In fact, findings from the Office of National Statistics recently showed that UK residents are actually going on more – but much shorter – holidays.
And following the drop in the value of the pound straight after the referendum, many have swapped their overseas travel plans for a ‘staycation’ in the UK.
Is it really because we can’t bear the thought of leaving work for so long?! Sounds unlikely but then it might surprise you to know that 50% of us don’t take our full annual leave allocation each year.
Worse still, recent findings from a Glassdoor Annual Leave Survey showed that, on average, employees only take around three-quarters (77 per cent) of their annual leave each year.
So, in short, about half of us are effectively working nearly 7 days a year for free!
6 of our favourite holiday cottages for 2 with a hot tub that also offer short breaks

Beech View in Malton, North York Moors, North Yorkshire
This studio apartment with its own private hot tub and courtyard in North Yorkshire strikes the balance of a cosy, romantic hideaway with a town centre location, complete with pub and lots of quirky, independent shops – including great coffee shops - within 2 minute’s walk.
Perfect as a base for exploring North Yorkshire and the nearby city of York. Prices start from £231 for a 3 night break.
The Rowan Yurt, Hepworth, West Yorkshire
A yurt might not necessarily be your front of mind choice for a luxury break away for two but wait until you take a look inside this incredible example in Hepworth, West Yorkshire! Featuring a king size bed, log burner and of course a hot tub, it’s the very definition of a romantic escape. And did we mention the BBQ plus shared use of the owner's swimming pool, sauna and steam room?
Just 2 miles from Holmfirth, the setting for the classic, long running TV show ‘Last of The Summer Wine’, it’s not for nothing that this area is known by many as God’s Own Country.
Prices start from £429 for a 3 night break.
Ghillie’s Cottage in Llandrillo, Conwy, Wales
This wonderful Welsh cottage offers the kind of 5 star luxury that you just won’t want to leave. Set in a stunning location overlooking the River Dee in Llandrillo, it offers easy access to the Snowdonia National Park and nearby attractions including Zip World.
But the utterly private hot tub and secluded feel may well find you spending all your time taking in the beautiful scenery or relaxing in front of the log burner with a glass of wine. If you can though, make sure you use the hot tub at night – nothing beats lying back and listening the owls hooting in the nearby woods. We guarantee you’ll leave more relaxed than you arrived. And your dogs are welcome too.
Prices start from £328 for a 3 night break.
Stour Barn, Stonham Aspal, Suffolk
The owner of this small group of cottages is passionate about giving his guests a 5 star experience and his attention to detail is second to none. Not only are you welcomed with the most impressive of hampers, your dog can also look forward to a range of treats.
And the property itself is just exceptional. Expect a log burner, luxury bedding and a private covered hot tub, complete with atmospheric lighting. Every ingredient you’ll need for a romantic break away in the Suffolk countryside.

The Cabin, Tyn-y-groes, Snwowdonia, Wales
If we’re really honest, we REALLY want to visit this cottage – we can imagine ourselves settled into that hot tub, looking out across those incredible views… But here’s the thing - even we don’t know exactly where it is! It’s secret location is part of its charm, making it more than a special hideaway for two.
Expect wonderful sunsets, a remote location, stunning views and the likelihood of seeing absolutely no-one else. Expect perhaps a shepherd in the distance. Perfect!
