Keswick holiday cottages
Gateway to the Lakes, the picturesque market town of Keswick, in the Lake District National Park in Cumbria, is situated just north of Derwent Water and close to Bassenthwaite Lake.
Granted a charter for a market as far back as 1276, there is still a market held every Thursday and Saturday in the middle of this Fairtrade Town.
Popular with tourists, Keswick holds an annual jazz as well as beer festival. And, as the source of the world’s first graphite pencils, Keswick is home to the Cumberland Pencil Museum.
Aside from enjoying the nearby fells, there is plenty to do in the area, including climbing, mountain biking, fishing or just enjoying a relaxing lake cruise.
Nearby attractions include the pre-historic Castlerigg stone circle whilst the towns of Cockermouth, Penrith, Windermere and Kendal are all within easy reach.
