Snowdonia holiday cottages

Why go on holiday to Snowdonia?
Wales has three National Parks. The most famous of which is undoubtedly Snowdonia. This picturesque area of north-west Wales covers some 838 square miles of stunning glaciers and mountains – including Wales’ highest mountain, Mount Snowdon.
The captivating land is home to towering mountains, ancient forests and, unbeknown to most that visit Snowdonia, 23 miles of coastline. The mountain ranges might be the headline act, but there is more than the peaks that get people flocking to Snowdonia – awe-inspiring waterfalls, gorges, valleys, lakes and forests are all waiting to be explored.
Things to do on holiday in Snowdonia
You’d be forgiven for thinking that there’s only one thing worth doing in Snowdonia but there is, in fact, plenty for you and your family to enjoy aside from climbing the country’s highest mountain.
Every year, thousands come and climb Mount Snowdon but whilst staying in the National Park, they discover that there is much more to the area. You don’t even have to hike to climb the mountain! If you want to experience the views from the summit but prefer a more leisurely approach, jump on the Snowdon Mountain Railway for a journey straight to the top!
If you fancy some other active things to do, Cardiff may well be the capital of Wales, but Snowdonia is undoubtedly the activity capital. You could go canyoning in the gorges, white water rafting in Bala, mountain biking at Coed-y-Brenin, soar five hundred feet in the air at 100mph at Zipworld and trampoline underground in an old slate mine.
For something more leisurely, you could walk around LLyn Ogwen, a glacial lake in beautiful surroundings, or cycle the Mawddach Estuary a stunning route from Dolgellau to the beach at Barmouth. The only thing that will slow you down is stopping to take pictures every few minutes!
Other relaxing attractions include the Ffestiniog Railway, Portmeirion Village Gardens and the long sandy beaches in Abersoch, Barmouth and Nefyn.
