Location

The North York Moors National Park covers 554 square miles, with landscape ranging from heather-clad moorland and deep secluded dales, to the cliffs and coves of the magnificent coastline making it a haven for walkers.

Three miles from the historic market and castle towns of Helmsley and Kirkbymoorside is the small, pretty village of Nawton. Lined with stone built cottages, the main street through the village has an excellent pub which serves food, a fish and chip shop and a pub that has been converted into an Indian restaurant. Set amidst the stunning countryside of the North York Moors, the area is full of great walking opportunities whilst the nearby towns of Helmsley and Kirkbymoorside provide great shopping with their wealth of quaint tea rooms, individual shops, galleries and good restaurants. The market town of Pickering is just 10 miles away and hosts not only Pickering castle but also the North York Moors Steam Railway. The region also hosts a huge number of stately homes and gardens including those of Castle Howard, Duncombe House and Park, Rievaulx Abbey, Nunnington Hall.
