Location

Named after the locally caught Flukes fish, this little settlement was once a popular resting point along the road to Morecambe Bay. Nowadays, the town provides a haven for cockle and shrimp fishers as well as a choice of welcoming pubs. The Cumbria Coastal Path runs close by and presents visitors with superb walking and nature watching opportunities. Historic Cartmel is just two miles away and has been called the prettiest village in the Lakes due to its quaint cobbled streets, antique shops, traditional pubs and the Michelin Star awarded L'Enclume restaurant. The nearby Edwardian resort of Grange-over-Sands offers visitors the chance to enjoy a traffic-free promenade in addition to delightful ornamental gardens and a choice of golf courses.
