Location
Clifford Barton is accessed via a long level drive, leading to a farmyard surrounded by former farm buildings, below which sits Clifford Barton, Mardon and Butterdon, and various outbuildings including a double Linhay barn. The holiday cottages abut part of the 15th Century Grade II* listed Clifford Barton.
The two cottages - Butterdon and Mardon - are named after surrounding hills and have recently been refurbished to a high standard.
Mardon is located at the southern end of a private 50-acre wooded valley, around which there are lovely scenic walks, including around a c.2 acre lake, which guests are welcome to explore and enjoy.
To the north of the cottage is a large, historic double-Linhay barn, known as the "party barn", in which there is a stage and rudimentary table tennis and pool table, which again guests are welcome to make use of.

Children's play area
Located between Butterdon and the western part of Clifford Barton, Mardon is accessed over a gravel forecourt via a stable door into an entrance hall connecting to a lounge with wood burning stove and dining area, a separate well equipped kitchen and a cloakroom with shower and toilet on the ground level.
Upstairs is a smart family bathroom and two double bedrooms, one with an additional single bed, with stairs up to a mezzanine level. This is an ideal play area for older children or younger children under supervision, since it is accessed up steep stairs (there is a stair gate at the bottom).
There is access from the kitchen to a south-facing private fenced garden with paved area and garden furniture.
A new district biomass central heating and hot water system, alongside double glazing throughout and a wood burner make the cottage extremely cosy.
The well equipped kitchen includes electric cooker, fridge-freezer, dishwasher, microwave, kettle, toaster, etc.
A communal washing machine is also available for use.
