Wordsworth House is a beautiful, grade II listed traditional Lakeland property in the heart of the village. This lovely cottage combines modern comforts with charm and character in a wonderfully central location close to the village Church. There is an abundance of superb original features throughout - including exposed beams and floors and shutters on the windows. This charming cottage has been recently improved and the addition of period furniture and quality soft furnishings have created a perfect, welcoming, holiday home.
To the rear there is a lovely private garden with plenty of space to relax and soak up the birdsong and sounds of village life. Church Hill is tucked away just off the Main Square in a convenient position for all the village amenities and is well placed for endless fell and country walks from your door step.
The pretty front door leads you into hallway and then into the very spacious living room with inset gas effect stove set on a stone hearth as it’s welcoming focal point. This charming room has walls which are partially panelled and shutters to the windows, and exposed beams. There is plenty of seating in deep, comfortable sofas and a flatscreen TV (freeview) with DVD. There is Wifi internet access provided for guests.
There is a separate dining room with large table and seating for 8 and attractive views towards the Church. This room also has a second gas effect stove with slate surround and exposed beams This is a lovely room to spend time sharing meals with family and friends. From here there is a secondary (secret) staircase that children will love!
The Kitchen is in an attractive farm house style with a good selection of units with corrian worktop and moulded sink unit with mixer tap. There is a microwave, dishwasher, fridge and a wonderful gas fired AGA. The period features include the original slate flagged floor and window seat with pretty views over the rear garden.
Next door there is a very useful utility room with a stainless steel sink unit with mixer tap, a washing machine and rear door leading to the garden.
From the front door, stairs lead upto the first floor. There is a split level landing with original exposed floor boards which leads to the four bedrooms.
The master bedroom is a spacious king sized room with original exposed floorboards, superb oak fronted built in wardrobes and the original cast iron fire surround. There are lovely views over the rear gardens towards the open countryside. There are steps down to the ensuite bathroom - comprising of a bath with shower attachment, WC and basin, dimplex electric wall heater and exposed beams and lovely views across the garden to the open countryside.

The fourth bedroom is a quaint single that is really full of character with built in alcove cupboards, exposed beams and exposed, sloping floorboards! Again there are attractive views over the Church to Latterbarrow beyond.
On this floor there is a family bathroom with a corner shower cubicle with Mira shower, WC and basin, heated towel rail, Dimplex electric wall heater and electric light/shaver point and an airing cupboard.
To the front of the property is an area for the parking for 1 car. To the rear there is a delightful and good sized south west facing garden with lawn, feature stream (small children will need to be supervised), and a raised paved terrace with patio furniture. There are superb country views to the Church and the countryside beyond. There is a very handy outside WC with wash basin.
This wonderful cottage also offers a large cellar with flagged floor for guests to store bikes etc. This is accessed from an external door and stairs lead up to the dining room. There is also a freezer in this space for guests to use should they wish.
