Enmill Barn is situated in the hamlet of Pitt approximately 2 miles from Winchester city. It is set in a rural location with views of the rolling Hampshire countryside. It is just short taxi ride to the cultural capital of Hampshire with all the shops restaurants and pubs that you will need during your visit. Enmill Barn is just a 10 minute car ride to Winchester train station with its twice hourly direct trains to London Waterloo.
Exploring the largest farmers market in the UK which was voted best in the country by the guardian food magazine is a must whilst being able to drop into the oldest pub in Britain the Royal Oak just off the high street will help refresh you before taking on the array of boutique shops which populate the city centre.
The Hyde Tavern and Mucky Duck, fantastic walks, a Theatre, a Library and the new gastronomic delights of Rick Stein’s and Hugh Fearnley Whittingstall’s restaurants. It ticks all the boxes. Winchester itself was the ancient capital of England and has a plethora of local historic attractions such as Winchester Cathedral, King Arthur's Round Table, Jane Austen's House and nearby Stonehenge to name but a few.
The local area also offers a fantastic choice of shooting grounds and fishing lakes. Or perhaps Golf is your preferred pastime? South Winchester Golf Club is less than 1 miles from the cottage and Alresford Golf Club is just over 6 miles away. There is plenty for you all to choose from to keep you entertained in and around Winchester, everything from Rugby to Canoeing along the River Itchen.
In less than 25 minutes you can visit Go Ape Southampton, situated in Itchen Valley Country Park, set in 440 acres of beautiful woodland and meadows close to the River Itchen, it's perfect for those looking for awesome outdoor activities that you'll never forget.
Well worth a visit is the market town of Alresford, a real treat. Alresford (pronounced Allsford) is a beautiful Georgian Town which for many centuries was a prosperous wool town. Old Alresford is mentioned in the Doomesday Book but the present town of New Alresford did not come into existence much before 1200, it has a great range of shops to explore.
Southampton International Airport is 12 miles away, ideal for the overseas visitor. Another 10 miles will deliver you to the heart of The New Forest, which has something for everyone. A camera is a must as there is so much to see and do. Beautiful scenery, wildlife, pub lunches, historic buildings, ancient trees, walks and routes are a few to mention. Or for the more adventurous, why not hop on a ferry to the Isle of Wight. Wightlink operate a car ferry from Lymington to Yarmouth.
If you are looking for the beach, you are spoilt for choice with many stunning sandy beaches. Milford On Sea is nearby with its shingle beach providing views of The Needles and Christchurch Bay or Barton On Sea which is known for its safe beach with stunning Vista's.
