The area offers good fishing, walking in the surrounding hills and woodland, and golf with its fine courses. There is also sailing, riding and bird watching, with rare species to be found including Ospreys and Capercaillie. The landscape is dotted with historic castles, tempting distilleries, and is known to millions as the setting for the TV series "Monarch of the Glen". You can fish on the River Spey all summer and winter or ski on the Cairngorms and at the Lecht ski centres.
