There is a selection of local shops, a butcher and a delightful village green, as well as a Norman church and a Methodist chapel dating back to the 1800s. Less than two miles away is the historic town of Selby, a real hidden gem with an impressive abbey and a fine selection of restaurants. Also close by is the fabulous city of York which teems with interest for the holidaymaker: the Minster, its medieval walls, boat trips on the River Ouse, York Races, museums (including the famous National Railway Museum and the Castle Museum), and the internationally-renowned Jorvik Viking Centre and its "time trip" experience.
