Set in amidst the impressive Manod and Moelwyn Mountains and close to the centre of Snowdonia National Park, the old slate quarrying village of Llan Ffestiniog is an ideal holiday spot for walkers, cyclists and ramblers. This lovely little village is close to Blaenau Ffestiniog – a town that was known as the 'City of Slate' during the 18th Century. The Llechwedd Slate Cavern is close by and makes a fascinating place to visit, as does the famous Ffestiniog Railway. Visitors can also enjoy the stunning mountainous views available from the numerous trails throughout the area – this is excellent countryside for walking, mountain biking and cycling. The region also offers wonderful sandy beaches, great fishing as well as a wealth of delightful towns and villages.
