Hurstgreen is a modern individual house, of a contemporary design, enjoying far reaching views to the south west over rolling Sussex countryside. This home embraces stylish open plan living with a flexibility of layout. The walled gardens have been landscaped to provide various garden “rooms” that are perfect for al-fresco entertaining.

From the moment you enter the primary living space from the reception hall, you see a tantalising glimpse of the enchanting views that lie to the back of the house from the French doors that lead to the “wrap-round” decked balcony. The open plan family space is the hub of the home, with a raised sitting room having a vaulted ceiling with skylights and further French doors to balconies, ideal for al-fresco entertaining as one sits and watches the sun set over a stunning outlook. Setting the mood, the sitting room is enhanced with various lighting arrangements, including recessed “café style” blue lights. Family and friends are drawn to sit around the table in the central dining area which is open plan to the kitchen, a large inviting space that has plenty of room for helpers! Natural Oak flooring spreads throughout the rest of the ground floor, linking each area and room seamlessly and allowing the natural light to reflect.

The house has 5 bedrooms, along with 3 bath or shower rooms (2 being en-suite). This flexible accommodation suits groups of friends or large family groups who want to escape to the countryside and celebrate a special occasion or simply enjoy each other’s company in beautiful surroundings.

Hurstgreen also offer a catering service "Merry Cuisine". Our in-house caterers give each group complete freedom to select anything from food for a light lunch, a cooked three course evening meal to a buffet BBQ in the wonderful gardens. Guests can choose to have pre prepared food delivered to the house, or to take advantage of the team to cook, serve and clear away, leaving them free to relax with their group, knowing all their catering needs have been taken care of.

Keen gardeners will love what was originally the walled kitchen garden to the historic house next door. It has been lovingly and imaginatively landscaped and designed to give separate “rooms”, each with a different and distinctive theme. Immediately adjoining the house is an expansive sun terrace with fossil mint limestone paving edged on 2 sides with a water feature wall. The paving continues under a large pergola covered with productive grape vines, inviting you to entertain en masse “Italian style” around a large dining table. Steps lead down from this terrace to paths which lead in turn to an impressive Arbour, covered in white and purple wisterias, climbing roses and clematis. To one side of the arbour is a formal “parterre” garden having gravelled paths and box hedges enclosing formal flower and rose beds and including fruit trees and lavenders. Espalier apple and pear trees have been trained along the old south facing wall and a pair of “standard” bay trees overlook a lower level lawn, ideal for games of football.
