Location
Herefordshire offers visitors the chance to journey through lush green countryside, enjoying splendid black-and-white timbered villages, a magnificent cathedral city, a fairytale Georgian castle at Eastnor or books galore in famous Hay-on-Wye.
The charming village of Goodrich stands on the River Wye, in the village is Goodrich Castle a fine example of a 12th Century Marcher Castle. The term 'marcher' is derived from the Anglo-Saxon 'mearc,' meaning boundary. The village amenities include a store and a couple of pubs serving good food. The nearby town of Ross-on-Wye is a delight to visit, with its 17th Century Market Hall, riverside walks, and a variety of shops, and eateries. Cruises are available along the river, but for something a little different why not try a hot air balloon trip and see the world from a different perspective? Symonds Yat is only one and a half miles away, and the book town of Hay-on-Wye is always worth a visit.
